St. Matthew’s qualify for the National Schools Finals

Earlier this week 10 teams took part in the Cambridgeshire qualification round for the National Schools Championship. Liv Harcourt from Cambridge Tigers Korfball Club said: “The event was fantastic. We had 10 teams from 8 schools. “We held a round robin competition. It ran like clockwork and we got great feedback from teachers and parents alike.

“Lots of goals were scored and lots of fun had!”

St. Matthew’s Primary School won the tournament with an impressive 16 points. The team from St. Matthew’s have now won a place at the Finals which will take part at the Copper Box Arena in London on Saturday 12th May 2018 – part of England Korfball’s Grand Final weekend.

The results were as follows:

  1. St. Matthew’s – 16 pts
  2. Milton Rd 2 – 12 pts
  3. Queen Edith’s – 11 pts
  4. Cottenham 1 – 11 pts
  5. Queen Emma – 9 pts
  6. Ely St John’s – 8 pts
  7. Histon and Impington – 8 pts
  8. Cottenham 2 – 7 pts
  9. Girton Glebe – 5 pts
  10. Milton Rd 1 – 3 pts
