Referee Bond

During the 2013/14 England Korfball League season all clubs achieved the required number of fully qualified referees and most clubs achieved the required number of ‘referee points’.

Bec Korfball Club from Tooting, Greater London were the only club that failed to gain the minimum number of points and have therefore forfeited their bond.

All England Premier Division clubs must earn the mandatory number of referee ‘points’ for refereeing in the Korfball League, Regional Leagues or at specific England Korfball events. Points can also be gained by developing referees within their club.

The Competitions Sub Committee are very pleased with the efforts by all EKL clubs to achieve 4 fully qualified referees and most clubs to achieve 7 refereeing points during the 2013-14 season.

However, we are very disappointed that, even though opportunities were given, Bec failed to gain 7 points and have therefore forfeited their bond and will need to pay a new one of £100. Under the terms of the bond, all EKL clubs are required to earn 7 points for refereeing in the EKL, Regional Leagues or EKA specified events, and getting referees fully qualified/upgraded.
