England Korfball hosted the senior national teams from Catalonia, Scotland and Wales this weekend (6-7 September 2014) as part of the preparations for the upcoming IKF European Korfball Championships later this year in Portugal.

Catalonia scored a total of 91 goals over the two days beating Scotland, Wales and England twice.

England International Otto Fabius who plays for Blauw-Wit in the Korfball League in The Netherlands was unable to take part in the matches after suffering a minor ankle injury last week. Speaking on Sunday Fabius said: “It was great to see the team play and improve over the weekend. This did make it all the more frustrating that I couldn’t be a bigger part of the process, but there will be more opportunities leading up to the European Championships.”

England captain Ben King said “It was great preparation for us. We played extremely well at points and are coming together nicely as a squad.

“It’s always frustrating to lose matches but I have no doubt we will learn from this weekend and be very competitive by the time we get to Porto [for the IKF European Korfball Championships]”

Hannah Lorrimer (Nottingham Korfball Club) top scored for England with 13 goals all from open play. Captain Ben King and vice-captain Davesh Patel both scored 11 goals each during the tournament.
