Hong Kong China U21 beat England on the opening day of the World Championship

England U21s suffered a shock defeat to Hong Kong China on the opening day of the IKF World Korfball Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

England made the perfect start with Jacob Dawes scoring in the first minute, however Hong Kong China hit back almost immediately.

Goals from Billy Ashby and Flynn Picot gave England a 3-1 lead before Hong Kong China stepped up the tempo and started to apply more pressure. England then failed to convert any of their chances for more than 10 minutes which allowed Hong Kong China to take the lead.

Flynn Picot top scored for England with six goals.

England’s next match is against Czech Republic on Sunday (8th July).
