England U19 win BRONZE after defeating Portugal 12-24

The England Under-19 squad have won the Bronze medal at the IKF U19 Open European Korfball Championships in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands.

A fantastic achievement!

The squad won 4 out of 5 matches (the match against RTC North (Netherlands) was out-of-competition) with the only defeat in the semi-final against the European and World champions, The Netherlands.

For the Bronze medal match England started with Annie Boyd, Ayishah Chaudry, Shane Buckland and Luke Coyte-McKenzie (c) in defence and Elise Sparks, Eleanor Parker, Zach Catterall and Jacob Dawes in attack.

Congratulations to the coaching team of Corinne Buckland and Joe Stirling and a big thank you to squad manager Nicole Sparks and physios Carin van der Hoeven, Mathijs Lossbroek and Jeroen van der Hoeven.

We’d also like to thank all the travelling supporters who made the journey over to the Netherlands to cheer on the squad – it really does make a difference having your own supporters in the arena.
