Injury will keep Claire Dique out of the U21 European Championships

Claire Dique will miss the U21 European Championships in the Czech Republic through injury.

England U21 coach Ross Carr-Taylor confirmed earlier this week that Dique has had to pull out. Carr-Taylor said: “Claire is naturally disappointed, but it determined to get back to playing as soon as possible.”

Commenting on the squads preparations for the IKF U21 European Korfball Championships Carr-Taylor said: “Training for the competition is in full swing, the squad is bonding well and are learning at a great pace. In a recent friendly with an England Korfball League all-star team we came out winners 33-26. The squad also participated in the Nomads tournament and finished in 1st place.

“I have called up another player from Bec Korfball Club, Jo-Anne Wilson to take Claire’s place in the squad.  Jo-Anne who recently impressed at the U19 Korfball World Cup also has a full season of National League experience behind her. We wish Claire a quick and speedy recovery.”

England U21s preparations continue today (07 June) with a number of training matches against Wales U21 at Medway Park, Kent.

The England U21 squad fly out to the Czech Republic on Friday, 04 July 2014.
