500+ children play Korfball in Milton Keynes

In the last two weeks over 500 children in and around Milton Keynes have taken part in korfball sessions organised by the Milton Keynes Youth Korfball Trust. Following the coaching sessions an inter-school tournament was held on Thursday 19 June 2014 between eight schools.

The coaching sessions were led by England Under 21 Chelsie Browne, along with Darren Gray, founder of Milton Keynes Youth Korfball Trust.

The inter-school tournament took place at Woughton-on-the-Green. Eight schools entered with two teams from Giles Brook Primary School.

The trophies were presented by Megan Allen, coach of MKX Youth Korfball Club. Megan who started playing korfball 7 years ago was awarded Sport Milton Keynes Coach of the Year in 2012.

The Milton Keynes Youth Korfball Trust (MKYKT) runs events, competitions and raffles to raise money to support the development of korfball in the Borough of Milton Keynes for children and young people

Darren Gray, MKYKT, expects another 120 children to take part in Korfball sessions next week.

Congratulations to Oxley Park Academy on finishing in top spot and well done to all the participants. Korfball is alive and kicking in Milton Keynes!
