The eagerly awaited announcement has been made. The International Korfball Federation has this weekend at their General Meeting been able to address the speculation as to the draw for the European Championships 2010.
Anna Jeanes represented English Korfball at the meeting and was able to pass on the information soon after the announcement was made.
English korfball fans have already put the date in their diaries to support England; but just last weekend England was joined in the competition by the developing korfball nations of Wales, Scotland and Ireland which saw players from English korfball clubs help these countries take the top 3 spots at the EuroBowl West.
For the first time 16 countries will compete at the European Championships, which will take place across 4 cities in the Netherlands from 22-31 October 2010, with the Championship final taking place at The Ahoy stadium, korfball's spiritual home.
So, for the pools themselves:
Pool A: The Netherlands, Germany, Hungary, Serbia (matches to be played in Leeuwarden)
Pool B: Belgium, Catalonia, Poland, Scotland (matches to be played in Tilburg)
Pool C: Czech Republic, Portugal, Wales, Turkey (matches to be played in Almelo)
Pool D: England, Russia, Slovakia, Ireland (matches to be played in Den Haag)
